Tickets to the North have been hard-to-get.
The number of tickets purchased by mainland and Hong Kong residents from Guangzhou and Shenzhen was increased on September 11 compared with the first day of sale. It was found from 12306 official website that the people could book the tickets until mainland's National Day holiday which was on or before October 10. On October 1, the first day of the holiday, there were more tickets left from Hong Kong to Futian and Shenzhen North railway station, while the tickets to Guangzhou South railway station were relatively tense. Tickets to the North have been hard-to-get before 3 p.m. on that day, and multiple trains showed no tickets available.
In this regard, some tourism professionals pointed out that the demand of Hong Kong residents and mainland tourists in Hong Kong travelling to North on National Day would be increased, either for travel or for returned vacation.
Tickets from Hong Kong to the Mainland are generally relatively tight, indicating that people from Hong Kong are more willing to take the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed rail.
From September 23 to October 10, 9 of the 34 trains from Guangzhou South railway station to Hong Kong were offered a discount price of 187 yuan per day, more than a quarter of which was discounted. People from Hong Kong who will return to Hong Kong can have more choices.
People work cross-border look forward to the monthly tickets.
The Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway is undoubtedly a great convenience for Hong Kong and mainland residents working and living across the border between the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong.
Ye Xinghua, a Hong Kong worker in Shenzhen and Foshan, agrees with the monthly ticket. He points out that he now commutes to and from Hong Kong and Foshan many times a week, and the demand for the Guangzhou-Shenzhen-Hong Kong high-speed railway will increase after the opening of the railway. "The price of a return ticket is more than 400 yuan. If I commutes many times, it will be a big expense."
He suggested that if a monthly ticket could be offered to those who frequently travel between the Pearl River Delta and Hong Kong, it would be "a great convenience to go to the station at any time and swipe cards in and out of the station, in addition to discounted fares, when there is a monthly ticket."
It is reported that the monthly ticket system has been achieved between the Beijing-Tianjin inter-city high-speed railway. Passengers can buy gold and silver card recharge cards and give different preferences according to the number of rides.
For example, a 50% discount is allowed for 20 trips on a silver card and a 85% discount is allowed for 100 trips. Passengers with two kinds of monthly ticket cards can swipe their cards into the station at any time to avoid the pain of buying tickets and waiting for trains.
