Call for Submissions for 2023 Colorful Guizhou 16th PhotoChina Original International Photography Exhibition

Guizhou is a verdant karst plateau that encompasses an area of 176,000 square kilometers. Numerous bridges crisscross the land and carry high-speed trains. Presently, there are over 30,000 bridges under construction or already built in Guizhou. It is home to nearly half of the top 100 viaducts and bridges in the world. Among the top ten bridges with the highest altitude on Earth, four of them can be found in Guizhou. China boasts nine winners of the Gustav Lindenthal Medal, four of which are here. These marvels of civil engineering encapsulate the perfect combination of a bridge’s mechanical quality and aesthetic essence. The bridges of Guizhou carry locals to the outside world, while also displaying the magnificence of this plateau to outsiders. A strong contemporary aesthetic is reflected in their innovative scientific and technological connotation, their extraordinary spans and carrying capacities, and exquisite spatial art, including the straight Pingtang Grand Bridge, the elevated Beipan River Bridge, and the charming Huayudong Bridge. They indeed exist as artistic miracles in colorful Guizhou. The 2023 Colorful Guizhou: 16th PhotoChina Original International Photography Exhibition is now soliciting entries from photographers and photography enthusiasts from all over the world. The theme of this year’s contest is “Crossing a Bridge to the World.”
