Get ready to roar with the new ‘Boonie Bears: Guardian Code’ movie

Get ready for some furry fun as “Boonie Bears: Guardian Code” is set to hit cinemas in the UK and Ireland on May 26, 2023.

Produced by Fantawild Animation, distributed by The Media Pioneers (TMP), and directed by Yongchang Lin, this latest instalment from the popular Chinese comedy/adventure franchise has already made waves in China, breaking box office records, with over ¥1.4 billion RMB earned during its release in January 2023. Now, UK and Irish audiences can join in on the fun as the lovable bears embark on an epic journey full of laughs, thrills, and heart-warming moments.

In this journey, we follow bear brothers Briar and Bramble who lose their mother in a fire and many years later stumble upon news about their long-lost mother that will change their lives forever.

Briar and Bramble lived happily in Crystal Peaks with their mother Barbara until one day a fire broke out. Briar saw his mother leaving the burning building never to return. He was heartbroken and the cubs grew up believing their mother had abandoned them forever.

Years later, fate brings them to a robot research institute, where they cross paths with scientist Charlotte, who possesses a precious memento once owned by Barbara - the amber stone. But their journey takes a dangerous turn when Charlotte is kidnapped by the scrap rebel gang, and Briar suspects that a member of the gang is none other than his missing mother. Will they unravel the secrets of Barbara's disappearance and reunite their family, or will they be thwarted by a sinister conspiracy? And will the bear brothers and their best friend Vick be able to save the day once again?

The Media Pioneers is excited to bring this new record-breaking animation film in English to cinemas in the UK and Ireland, following the highly successful theatrical release of “Boonie Bears: Back to Earth” in May 2022.

TMP, a UK-China media group established in 2013 specializes in distributing and co-producing children’s content, films, and drama series. The company's main goal is to bring fresh and engaging stories to UK and global audiences.

Maggie Liang, Managing Director at TMP states: “We are delighted to release our second Boonie Bears feature, opening up the Irish market for the first time along with planning the future steps for the branding in the UK and Ireland.”

In 2012, Fantawild Animation launched Boonie Bears, an edutainment comedy themed around environmentalism, which follows two nature-loving bears as they face off against the hapless lumberjack logger Vick who resides in the forest. The cartoon is now the most well-known Chinese animation, distributed in over 100 countries and territories, including the US, Italy, Russia, the Middle East, Asia, and Latin America.

The movie will be exclusively released in more than 300 cinemas across the UK and Ireland, with confirmed cinema chains including Cineworld, Showcase, Odeon, and IMC in Ireland, among others. Families and kids can enjoy the movie over the May half-term holiday. So, mark your calendars and get ready to join the loveable Boonie Bears on their latest adventure!
