Hong Kong secretary for culture congratulates Michelle Yeoh on winning Oscar Best Actress

Kevin Yeung, the Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of Hong Kong Special Administration Region on Monday congratulated Michelle Yeoh on winning Best Actress at the 95th Academy Awards.

"Hong Kong's film sector has nurtured many outstanding actors and filmmakers. Michelle Yeoh rose to prominence in the Hong Kong film industry for years, then moved on to the international stage and became a shining star with impressive achievements," Yeung said,

"Her honor of winning the Oscar award, one of the most significant awards in the film sector, is well deserved. This is a testimony to the strong potential of Hong Kong's talents and film industry," he added.

Born in Malaysia, Yeoh became the first Asia woman to win the best actress Oscar for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, in which she plays Evelyn Wang, the Chinese first-generation immigrant owner of a laundromat around whom the film's absurdist multiverse revolves.
