Art exhibition of the 7th Silk Road International Arts Festival kicked off in Xi'an on Wednesday, featuring works of intangible cultural heritage, contemporary paintings and sculptures.

After two years of excavation, the archaeologists unearthed foundations of large buildings, roads, pottery drainage pipes and other important relics of the Western Zhou Dynasty.

Yiluo River and Qinhe River in the middle reaches of the Yellow River also showed signs of flooding. The water levels at the Huayuankou hydrology station rose to 4,020 cubic meters per second at 9 pm Monday.

More than 12,000 athletes representing China's provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions, the Hong Kong and Macao Special Administrative Regions, the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and specific sporting associations will compete in this year's Games, which will run through to September 27.
