The “Beautiful Yunnan· Shangri-La” Cultural Event successfully held in London

“Beautiful Yunnan· Shangri-La” Cultural Event was successfully held by The Publicity Department of the CPC Yunnan Committee, China in London, UK on 20th and 21st of December.

Guests from the UK experienced the authentic Chinese culture and different ethnic minorities’ culture and extraordinary biodiversity as well as the charm of “World’s Shangri-la” through events such as Yunnan photography and crafts exhibitions, art performances, Chinese dance and instrument performances, fashion show, business forums, etc. Ms. Zou Ying, the Section Chief of Exchange and Promotion Section, Publicity Department, CPC Yunnan Provincial Committee, says Shangri-La means “the sun and moon in our mind” in Tibetan language. “Shangri-La” depicted by British writer James Hilton in 1933 is a real description of the inclusive and blended Tibetan culture in Diqing, which is located at the major crossroad of the Ancient Tea-Horse Road in Yunnan and Tibet.

Through these series of events, a “multi-perspective and three-dimensional” cultural bridge between the UK and China are built for the UK audience to get a in-depth insight of Yunnan and China.

“We will have pragmatic exchanges and interactions, further build the bond and bridge to develop pragmatic cooperation, deepen mutual trust and boost exchanges, expand the influence of Yunnan culture, regard culture as the medium, and enable the world ‘see’ a real Shangri-La”, says the responsible person at this event.
