Base part of ancient irrigation system appears from river

Base part of ancient Qianjinbei Irrigation System, which is normally submerged in river, now shows up due to low water level in Fucheng city, East China’s Jiangxi province. The Qianjinbei Irrigation System, located in the city of Fuzhou, dates back more than 1,200 years. It is a large water conservancy project in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River, which has multiple functions including irrigation, transportation, drainage and flood control. The irrigation project was declared World Heritage Irrigation Structures in September this year.
