China Southern Airlines Unveils Sky Bridge: London Heathrow-Beijing Daxing Route Takes Off

China Southern Airlines has announced the official inauguration of its highly anticipated London Heathrow-Beijing Daxing route, marking a significant milestone in the airline's expansion plans.

The new route, which commenced operations on June 7, aims to enhance tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between China and the United Kingdom, while providing passengers with a more convenient "air bridge" between the two countries. As the largest base carrier at Beijing Daxing International Airport, China Southern Airlines takes pride in being the first Chinese airline to operate a direct route between Beijing Daxing and London Heathrow.

To commemorate the launch, the airline's London branch organized an extravagant welcoming ceremony at Heathrow Airport. The event featured inspiring speeches, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and champagne celebrations, symbolizing the successful commencement of China Southern Airlines' London Heathrow-Beijing Daxing route.

Passengers traveling on this new route can expect a premium experience aboard China Southern Airlines' state-of-the-art Airbus A350 flagship aircraft. The flight schedule is designed to accommodate travelers' needs, with departures from London Heathrow Airport at 22:30pm local time and arrivals at Beijing Daxing International Airport at 15:25pm Beijing time the following day. The estimated flight duration is approximately 9 hours and 55 minutes. For the return journey, flights depart from Beijing Daxing International Airport at 11:55am Beijing time and arrive at London Heathrow Airport at 15:45pm local time, with an estimated flight duration of 10 hours and 50 minutes.

China Southern Airlines' London Heathrow-Beijing Daxing route presents a gateway for passengers to explore 27 captivating cities in China, including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Chongqing, and Changsha. The route, which operates with a projected capacity of transporting over 600 passengers per day, is expected to facilitate seamless travel and foster stronger connections between the two nations.

Looking ahead, China Southern Airlines has ambitious plans to restore additional international routes, solidifying China's ties with the United Kingdom and expanding its global air route networks. Presently, the airline operates nine international and regional routes from Daxing Airport, with popular destinations such as Amsterdam, Moscow, Istanbul, and Hong Kong. This commitment to increasing travel options demonstrates the airline's dedication to meeting the diverse needs of its customers.

As a major player in the China-UK market, China Southern Airlines has been pivotal in facilitating travel and exchanges between the two countries. Following adjustments to China's epidemic prevention policies, the airline successfully resumed daily flights between London and Guangzhou on April 10, 2023, offering increased convenience for direct travel between China and the UK.

The London Heathrow-Beijing Daxing route not only represents a vital international connection for China Southern Airlines at Daxing Airport but also establishes a crucial long-haul link at the Beijing Daxing hub in the post-pandemic era. This new route injects fresh vitality into the partnership and cooperation between the UK and China, fostering closer cultural exchanges between the two nations. With the continuous expansion of direct air routes, the Chinese and British people can look forward to even deeper interactions and collaborations in the future.
