Streamax's exhibition stand was a testament to the transformative capabilities of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in delivering state-of-the-art solutions. The showcase encompassed a wide range of innovative products, including active safety systems, onboard CCTV, and intelligent dash cams. Notably, Streamax highlighted its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), Driver Status Monitoring (DSM), 360 AI-AVM, and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) technologies. The AI-AVM 360 intelligent driving assistance system in Streamax's product line-up offers an all-weather real-time display of the vehicle's surroundings, eliminating blind spots. Equipped with leading-edge object recognition algorithms, it enhances the safety of the driving environment. This system utilises four high-definition cameras to capture real-time images around the vehicle. The images undergo distortion correction and seamless stitching, creating a comprehensive bird's eye view that minimises blind spots. Additionally, the advanced 3D image engine further reduces blind spots, while the intelligent ADAS object detection algorithm processes lane lines and objects in real time. By providing users with early warnings about potentially hazardous areas, it effectively reduces the risk of scratches, collisions, and other traffic accidents, thereby enhancing overall driving safety.

The spotlight was on Streamax's latest innovations, including the Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) compliant with UN Regulation No. 151, and the Moving Off Information System (MOIS) compliant with UN Regulation No. 159 for detecting pedestrians and cyclists in the vehicles blind zones. Through these advancements, Streamax continues to revolutionise safety on the road, leveraging the power of AI to protect vulnerable road users and enhance overall driver awareness. These world-class solutions are designed to enhance driver behaviour, reduce accident rates, prevent direct and indirect fatalities, and minimise insurance claims. By employing real-time identification of high-risk events and providing advanced warnings, Streamax enables proactive accident prevention.

We can also proudly report the success of our Business Development Director, Balazs Berki's presentation discussing the subject of "Advanced blind spot information system on buses protecting vulnerable road users in urban life" at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit. The session, held on the afternoon of 6th June at the Spotlight Forum B Stage, delved into the crucial subject of digital solutions and connectivity for enhancing the safety and reliability of operations, specifically addressing the persistent challenges posed by blind spots during turning manoeuvres of buses. These collisions, frequently transpiring at lower driving speeds within urban areas, can have severe consequences for vulnerable road users (VRUs) such as pedestrians and cyclists.

Mr. Berki, an accomplished international business development expert, is leading the expansion of Streamax's solutions in the UK. With a focus on establishing strategic client and channel partner relationships, he is driving growth in the public and freight transport sectors across the UK and mainland Europe. Additionally, Mr. Berki has assumed the role of Vice Chairman of the Information and Telecommunications Technology Committee (ITT) at UITP. Working closely with the Chairman and designated Manager from UITP's General Secretariat, he provides effective leadership and fosters teamwork within the global committee. Throughout his two-year term, Mr. Berki is dedicated to aligning the committee's work programme with the UITP Integrated Work Programme, setting strategic priorities, and coordinating global Working Groups. His contributions are instrumental in advancing and shaping the public transport industry.

Mr Berki's presentation shed light on the challenges faced by bus drivers in urban traffic, emphasising the importance of being alert to their surroundings, particularly in busy traffic environments. Vehicle blind spots, a significant factor contributing to serious accidents that cause harm to cyclists and pedestrians globally, underscored the critical need for active monitoring and checking blind spots diligently.

The presentation explained that blind spots can obstruct the driver's view, making it crucial to address this issue comprehensively. While modern vehicles have made advancements in reducing blind spots through improved mirror placement, passive cameras, and larger windows, limitations persist. Research reveals that a vast majority of drivers find it difficult to spot cyclists, with over half reporting being surprised by cyclists seemingly appearing out of nowhere.

Mr Berki highlighted the prevalence of turning manoeuvres involving collisions with vulnerable road users, emphasising the serious consequences that occur at lower driving speeds in urban areas. Despite improvements in bus drivers' visibility through increased mirror usage, the introduction of advanced active safety systems has become imperative to prevent accidents between turning buses and VRUs. As a result, the Blind Spot Information System (BSIS) and the Moving Off Information System (MOIS) recently became mandated standard requirements in the public transport and freight industries.

Mr. Berki was presenting the BSIS solutions on the forum in the event

Streamax's BSIS and MOIS solutions emerged as one of the market’s rare video-based, AI-assisted active safety systems fully compliant with the UN Regulation No. 151 and No. 159. The solution, released and mandated in 2022, prioritises the safety of cyclists and VRUs. Starting from 7th July 2024, all newly registered M2, M3, N2, and N3 commercial vehicle categories must be equipped with the BSIS and MOIS systems, in alignment with the United Nations Economic Commission mandate.

The Streamax BSIS solution utilises the advanced C53-BSIS side-mounted, AI-assisted active safety wing camera, equipped with dual lenses for comprehensive rear and top side views monitoring both parallel and lateral traffic flows. Additionally, it incorporates the forward-facing CA51-MOIS solution aiding drivers to avoid collisions when moving off from a bus stop or traffic lights. These state-of-the-art cameras possess the capability to detect and distinguish pedestrians, cyclists, and other objects within the blind spots on both sides and in front of the vehicle. This powerful combination of active cameras ensures enhanced safety measures by providing a comprehensive visual perspective for the driver, mitigating potential risks, and fostering a safer environment for all road users. Real-time analysis of the high-definition day and night vision footage is performed by the embedded AI-assisted edge computer. Real-time audio and visual alarms are triggered within the driver's cab when a VRU in danger is detected, prioritising the safety of pedestrians and other vulnerable road users.

Streamax applauds Balazs Berki's presentation and its contribution to raising awareness about the importance of advanced blind spot information systems. By actively protecting VRUs and enhancing road safety, Streamax remains committed to its mission of creating a secure and reliable mobility ecosystem.

In conclusion, Streamax's participation at the UITP Global Public Transport Summit was a resounding success, with its innovative solutions for sustainable, safe urban mobility taking centre stage. Through engaging with industry leaders and showcasing cutting-edge technologies, Streamax solidified its position as a leader in the field, committed to creating a safe and secure mobility ecosystem.
