Jixi coal mine accident kills 12 people

Twelve people were killed and 13 injured in a coal mine accident that occurred in the afternoon, of 20th of Dec, in Jixi city, Northeast China's Heilongjiang province, China Central Television reported on 21st of Dec.

The inclined shaft car accident - which means the mine car loses control and falls down the inclined shaft when lifting or lowering the vehicle - occurred at 3:50 pm on 20th of Dec, at Kunyuan Coal Mine in Jixi's Hengshan district.

All the injured have been sent to the hospital for treatment and the aftermath of the accident is being carried out in an orderly manner, local government told CCTV.

An investigation team was set up immediately after the accident and the cause of the accident is still under investigation.
