Farmers across China are busy with agricultural production as the day of Yushui (Rain Water), the second of the 24 solar terms in the Chinese lunar calendar, is approaching. Yushui will fall on Feb. 19 this year.

Luhe River, dubbed a "mother river" in Jingbian County, plays an important role in agricultural production in northern Shaanxi. 

Jiang Hui is in a kind of unique situation in his village in Anlu City, Hubei Province of central China. The 38-year-old man is the only one of his generation still living in the village. “I don’t know any adult who is younger than me, not only in this village, but in all the villages nearby,” he said.

China released an action plan recently on expanding the planting of soybean and oil crops at State-owned farms to ensure national food security and the supply of important agricultural products, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs.
